Peer Support Excursion
Today (November 26) the year 10 SJGS cohort ventured out to Serpentine falls led by the 2019 prefect team. The excursion day was for peer support training; students challenged themselves in various activities led by the year 11 prefects to give a taster for what 2019 Peer Support has to offer. Accompanied by Brad Krokosz, Ben Freel, Anton Ferreira and Skye Riseley, the students worked on their leadership, perseverance, resilience and team work skills. The year 10s will apply to become a peer support mentor to the new coming year 7 cohort, to support the year 7s transition into high school.
The day was a big success, with a yummy bbq cooked by the prefects, a swimming game involving a greasy watermelon and a very friendly family of Kangaroos!
The day finished with a reflection activity and the year 10 students applications being submitted.
It is safe to say, the prefect team really stepped up in their roles of leadership and set the example for the year 10 cohort, whom are excited for what 2019 has to offer!
